Alex McDonald Cliburn Competitor Gave a Concert at Carlson


Mr. McDonald gave his orchestral debut at the age of eleven, and has since appeared as soloist with the Utah Symphony, Louisiana Philharmonic, and Fort Worth Symphony Orchestras, among others. He has performed across the United States as well as in Israel, Canada, South Korea, and Japan, where he also organized relief concerts for displaced survivors of the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami. He received his doctorate and Master’s degrees at The Juilliard School, in New York City, and earned his Bachelor’s at the New England Conservatory of Music. Mr. Donald currently lives very close to us – in Dallas.

Mr. McDonald will participate in the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. He was one of 30 individuals selected from over 150 applicants to participate in the Competition. The Competition begins this Friday at Bass Performance Hall.
