Hello all! My name is Angela, and I am very happy to introduce myself to you as the student teacher for the music classroom at Alice Carlson until May! I am super excited to embark on this experience, and anticipate seeing how much I will be able to learn.
I am a senior Music Education major, with a concentration in voice at TCU. My journey in music at TCU has been one that will leave me with so many valuable things. I came here not knowing what to expect – all I knew was that I wanted to sing and teach people to have the same joy for it that I have. However, I do know I have gained more than I ever thought I could. Saying that, I also know that there is still a huge realm out there for me to explore, and there are so many more incredible things for me to experience.
A few fun facts about me: I am from Louisville, KY (random, I know!): home of the one and only Kentucky Fried Chicken and horse racing, more specifically the Kentucky Derby. There, my three brothers and I were single-handedly raised by my mother. Growing up surrounded by three boys turned me into a huge sports fan, especially football and basketball. That has not changed since I went to college!
In the fifth grade, I discovered this love and absolute joy in singing, and since then, that as well has not changed. From the very day I began singing in choir, music has given me confidence, leadership, and taught me the value of friendship. I absolutely cannot wait until I have my own classroom one day to see these things happen to other students!
Since coming to Texas, I have fallen in love with this place. My three brothers each attended TCU as well, graduating with degrees in Religion. They are now living in Fort Worth, and I plan to do the same after I graduate.
Once again, I am so excited to be able to student teach at Alice Carlson! I am looking forward to many great things!
