Auditions for FWISD Elem Music Choir

Carlson Family,

Fort Worth ISD is again sponsoring the Children’s Honor Choir; membership by audition only. Any Fort Worth ISD student in grades 4 or 5 may audition for this select ensemble.
Auditions will be held from 4:00 PM –6:45 PM on Thursday, September 03 and Thursday, September 10 at Orchestra Hall. Rehearsals will begin on September 17, 2015 for all returning students. New students will begin rehearsing with the choir on September 17, 2015.

The criterion for the audition is as follows:
• Sing – America (My Country ‘Tis of Thee)
• Sing – Are You Sleeping Brother John by yourself and as a round with the director
o Students who are selected for Honor choir will rehearse on Thursdays after school from 5:30 PM to 6:45 PM at Orchestra Hall
• Transportation on a first come first serve basis will be available to honor choir members via school bus from four locations or otherwise transportation to and from each event will be the responsibility of the student’s parent or guardian
• Students who were in the choir last year do not need to audition again
Student Requirements
1. Open to 4th and 5th grade students in Fort Worth ISD
2. Successfully pass an audition with the Choir Directors
3. Maintain passing grades in all of your classes
4. Be courteous and maintain excellent conduct
5. Participate fully in all rehearsals
6. Have a positive attitude and sing your best
Transportation
Transportation will be provided by school busses at four central locations in the city. Busses will pick up at the designated location at 5:00 PM and return with students by 7:15 PM. Students must be at the location by 5:00 PM. There will be no supervision of students at the pickup location until 5:00 PM, nor supervision at Orchestra Hall until 5:00 PM. Bus will leave promptly. Assistant directors will accompany students on the bus.
Parents must be waiting for students at the drop-off location at 7:15pm when the bus returns; failure to do so will result in removal from the honor choir.

At the end of rehearsal (6:45), the busses will return students to the same location. Teachers will accompany students on busses.

Additional Parent Requirements
1. Provide transportation to rehearsals each Thursday beginning 5:30 PM at Orchestra Hall
2. Pick student up promptly after rehearsals 6:45 PM at Orchestra Hall; or school site pickup at 7:15 PM
a. Failure to be at designated drop off on time will result in removal from choir
3. Attend performances of the Honor Choir
4. Purchase your student the appropriate concert apparel; the district will provide the shirt (Red Polo)
a. Parents purchase long khaki pants for students
5. Attend parents meetings
6. Be willing to volunteer if needed
